How to play Cod Zone

A silly fish battle royale: wiggle out of an overstuffed trawler net, loot the seabed, stay inside the closing Net and be the last of 30 fish swimming.

  1. You start in a trawler's net with 29 bot fish. Hold Space (or the WIGGLE button) to squirm free when the boat is over a spot you like, then steer your sink toward the yellow landing marker. Anyone still in the net at the map edge is tipped out with the bycatch.
  2. Swim over glowing loot to grab it. Open treasure chests, clams, crab pots and message bottles for weapons, bubbles (ammo), scale plates, seaweed snacks and pearls. You carry two weapons, your Fin Slap, and one throwable.
  3. Fight with the mouse or the right stick. Gills are your health; scale plates (armor, up to three) soak damage first. Seaweed snacks heal, and gills slowly recover after a few seconds without a hit.
  4. The Net closes in over five phases. A white circle on the map shows where it is heading. Outside the Net you get reeled in and lose gills, faster each phase.
  5. Your first defeat before the last third of the match sends you to the Fish Tank for a 1v1 with another fallen fish. Win, and a seagull drops you back in with a Pistol Shrimp. Lose, and you are out.
  6. Points of interest: the Kelp Forest hides you from anyone more than a few meters away, Hydrothermal Vents heal fast but show you on the map, the Garbage Patch slows you, the Oil Rig perch sees over low cover, Shark Cave hides a Goldfish weapon behind a sleeping shark, and the Sunk Sub vault needs a key from a message bottle.
  7. Spend pearls at Bait Shops on plates, snacks, a Spare Swim Bladder (pops you back up once) or a Loadout Drop. Be the last fish swimming to win.
