Parcel Post

Pack the van. Save the day. Parcel Post is a quick postal block puzzle: place three parcels at a time, send full rows and columns out as routes, and always keep room for whatever comes next.

What you do

Parcel Post is a cozy block puzzle about packing a delivery van. Three parcels wait in the tray, from single boxes to long crates and big L-shaped bundles. Fill a whole row or column of the 8x8 van floor and a little van drives it off as a delivery route. Parcels grow bigger as the shift goes on, so the van gets tighter the longer you last, and the shift ends when none of the parcels left in the tray fit anywhere. Your best score and stars are saved in your browser.

How to play

  1. Drag a parcel from the tray at the bottom (or the side, on wide screens) onto the van. Green squares mean it fits; red means it does not.
  2. Parcels cannot rotate. A new tray of three arrives only after all three are packed.
  3. Fill a whole row or column to send it out as a delivery route. Rows about to fill glow gold while you drag.
  4. Sending two or more routes with one parcel multiplies the points. Sending routes on placements close together builds a combo; the dots on the combo badge show how many placements you have left to keep it.
  5. Express parcels show a stamp count. Send them out before it runs out for a bonus; after that they are ordinary parcels.
  6. Deliver 2 gifts to charge the Sort Bin, then tap it to swap the parcels left in the tray for new ones that fit.
  7. The shift ends when none of the parcels left in the tray fit anywhere in the van.

Controls

  • Touch or mouse: drag a parcel from the tray onto the van. On touch screens the parcel floats above your finger so you can see where it lands.
  • Touch or mouse: tap a parcel to pick it, then tap the van to place it there.
  • Keyboard: 1, 2 or 3 picks a parcel, the arrow keys or W A S D move it, and Enter or Space places it.
  • Keyboard: B uses the Sort Bin and Esc puts the parcel back.
  • Shared toolbar: pause, restart, sound, help and fullscreen.

Tips worth knowing

  • Keep a 3x3 space and a clear row or column open for the big parcels and the long five-box crates.
  • Look at all three parcels before placing the first one. The order matters.
  • Avoid single empty squares walled in on all sides. Only a single parcel can fill them.
  • Set up two lines that finish together for a double route, and keep dispatching to grow your combo.
  • Save a charged Sort Bin for the moment a tray will not fit.

Accessibility

  • The game can be paused from the shared play toolbar, and nothing happens on a timer.
  • Every move can be made with the keyboard: pick a parcel with 1 to 3, move it with the arrow keys and place it with Enter.
  • Parcels can be tapped and then placed with a second tap instead of dragged.
  • Instructions and controls are available as page text outside the game area.

Questions

Is Parcel Post a Tetris game?

No. Nothing falls and there is no timer. Parcel Post is a block placement puzzle: you choose where each of the three parcels in the tray goes, and full rows and columns clear.

How does the score work?

Each parcel packed is worth 10 points. A route is worth 100, multiplied by the number of routes sent with the same parcel and by your combo. Express parcels sent in time add 150 before the combo.

Can a shift end on bad luck?

Not early on. For the first 36 parcels, every new tray is dealt so that all three parcels can fit in the van together, although packing them in the wrong spots can still block the others. After that the guarantee fades out, and a later tray can hold a parcel with no room left, which is when a charged Sort Bin helps.

Does Parcel Post need an account?

No. The game runs in the browser and saves only your best score and a few totals on this device.
