Cozy Arcade
Acorn Drop
Line up the shot, let it bounce, and pop every red mushroom before the acorns run out.
What you do
Acorn Drop is a cozy aim-and-shoot peg game in the Peggle style. A squirrel at the top of a wooden board launches one acorn at a time, and after the first bounce the acorn ricochets through log pegs, hollow logs and moss mounds on its own. Twelve hand-built boards unlock one after another, each with up to three stars to earn. Boards cleared, stars and best scores are saved in your browser.
- Twelve hand-built boards with rings, arches, hollow-log lanes, sliding rows, a turning pinwheel and moss mounds.
- Spring acorns make your next shot bounce back up from the bottom, and iron acorns let it smash through eight pegs.
How to play
- Press Play. On every board the goal is the same: hit every red mushroom using your 10 acorns.
- Aim the squirrel's acorn. The dotted guide shows its path until the first thing it will hit.
- Shoot. Every peg and mushroom the acorn touches lights up and clears when the shot ends.
- Hit many pegs in one shot to raise the combo multiplier: double points from the fifth peg, up to five times from the seventeenth.
- Land in the sliding basket to get that acorn back. Golden acorn pegs give an extra acorn; spring and iron acorn pegs power up your next shot.
- Clear the last mushroom to win: unused acorns become bonus points, your score sets the stars and the next board opens. Run out of acorns first and you can try the board again.
Controls
- Touch: drag on the board to aim, then let go to shoot. Let go above the squirrel to cancel.
- Mouse: move over the board to aim and click to shoot.
- Keyboard: Left and Right arrows or A and D aim (hold to sweep, Shift for fine steps). Space, Enter or Down shoots. Esc opens the board menu.
- The menu button above the board lets you restart the board or open the board list.
- Shared toolbar: pause, restart, sound, help and fullscreen.
Tips worth knowing
- Aim the guide at a peg beside a mushroom, not only at the mushroom: the bounce often carries on to a second one.
- Save acorns. Each one left when the board is clear is worth 1,000 points, so tidy boards earn the most stars.
- Watch the basket before you shoot. A shot that ends in it costs nothing.
- Save an iron acorn for mushrooms tucked under logs, and use a spring acorn when many mushrooms sit low.
- On boards with sliding rows or the turning pinwheel the guide shows where the pegs are right now, so shoot when it lines up.
Accessibility
- Nothing moves against you while you aim: there is no timer, so you can line up every shot at your own pace.
- Aiming works with touch, a mouse or the keyboard, including fine quarter-degree steps with Shift and the arrow keys.
- The HUD, menus, board list and results are real buttons and text, and board goals and results are announced to screen readers.
- Reduced motion turns off the last-mushroom zoom and screen shake. Sound is never required.
Questions
How do stars work?
Clearing a board earns one star, and higher scores earn two or three. The results screen shows how many points the next star needs.
What if the acorn gets stuck?
If the acorn stops on top of a peg or wedges between pegs, the pegs it is resting on clear so it can drop. A shot always ends.
What does the game save?
Boards cleared, stars and your best score on each board are saved in this browser on this device. A board in progress is not saved. The best score from the earlier version of Acorn Drop is kept and shown on the title screen as your classic best.
