What you do

Golden Bake is a cozy timing game set in a busy little bakery, where customers line up at the order rail and each pastry must come out of its brick oven at the golden moment. Every pastry bakes its own way: cookies are steady, loaves slow and forgiving, croissants quick with a narrow band, cupcakes sink if you open the oven early, pies must be turned halfway, and macarons bake in two trays back to back. The real skill is juggling several ovens at once. A run is a five-day week: each day adds an oven or a new pastry, the lunch rush brings customers faster, and the day ends with a one to three star rating for how golden your bakes were.

  • Golden pulls in a row build a streak that raises every score, up to double.
  • A timer bell for each oven, each with its own note, so you can hear which one just turned golden.

How to play

  1. Press Play. Customers arrive at the order rail at the top, each ticket showing one pastry and a patience bar.
  2. Tap an empty oven to bake the next order (the ticket marked Next, normally the one waiting longest). Tap a different ticket first to bake that one instead, or drag a ticket onto an empty oven.
  3. Watch the oven's meter. Tap the oven again while the needle is in the gold band to serve the pastry. On the white line it is Perfect and worth double.
  4. Tap too early and the pastry comes out pale: no points, and the order goes back on the rail, but you keep your hearts. Just after the gold band is a short orange toasty strip: served for a few points, and your streak ends.
  5. In the red, or left in the oven too long, a pastry burns and costs a heart, and the order goes back on the rail.
  6. Cupcakes have a striped pink meter: opening the oven before the gold band sinks them and costs a heart. Pies need one tap in the blue band to turn them; an unturned pie bakes unevenly, with half the gold band and no Perfect. Macarons bake two trays in a row; pull both golden.
  7. Customers only lose patience while their ticket waits on the rail. If a patience bar runs out, the customer leaves and you lose a heart. Extra customers wait at the door without losing patience until the rail has room.
  8. Each day ends when every customer has been served or has left. You earn up to three stars for how golden the day's bakes were (Perfect counts most), and each star adds 150 points. The next day starts with one heart back, up to three.
  9. Tuesday adds a third oven and croissants, Wednesday cupcakes, Thursday a fourth oven and pies, and Friday macarons. Finish Friday to complete the week. Lose all three hearts and the bakery closes.

Controls

  • Touch or mouse: tap an oven to bake the next order, then tap it again to pull or turn the pastry. Tap a ticket to bake that order next, or drag it onto an empty oven.
  • Keyboard: 1 to 4 tap that oven. Left and Right arrows (or A and D) pick which ticket bakes next.
  • Toolbar: pause, restart, sound, help, and fullscreen.

Tips worth knowing

  • When two ovens will turn golden at the same moment, wait a beat before loading the second one so you can pull both on time.
  • Bake the ticket with the shortest patience bar first. A slow loaf in an empty oven buys time for the quick pastries.
  • Watch the pastry in the window as well as the meter: it turns golden brown just as the needle reaches the band.
  • Never tap a cupcake early. If you are unsure, wait for the gold band; a toasty pull is better than a lost heart.
  • Turn every pie in the blue band. An unturned pie can still be served, but never Perfect.

Accessibility

  • Every action is a single tap or key press; dragging a ticket is optional.
  • Number keys 1 to 4 control the ovens, and the arrow keys pick the next order, so the game can be played without a mouse.
  • Each oven shows its state in words under its meter (baking, golden, turn it, toasty, burning), not only in color, and screen readers hear new orders, golden ovens, and results.
  • Pause freezes the ovens and every customer's patience. Reduced motion turns off shaking and bobbing.

Questions

How are the daily stars earned?

Every customer counts 3 for a Perfect pastry, 2 for golden, 1 for toasty, and 0 if they were not served. Reach half of the maximum for one star, 72% for two, and 90% for three.

Does Golden Bake save my score?

Yes. Your best score, best week of stars, furthest day, and longest streak are saved in this browser. If you played the earlier version, its high score is shown on the title screen as your classic best.
