What you do

Whisk & Rhythm is a cozy bakery rhythm game where every note is part of the tune. Seven little songs, from a sleepy 84 BPM cookie jam to a 132 BPM pancake finale, are composed in your browser with soft drums, bass, keys and a melody. Ingredient notes fall down four lanes (flour, cream, berries and spice), and each one you hit plays the next note of the melody, so a clean run sounds like you are playing the song. Earn up to three stars per recipe to open the next one, and replay for a better score: each song keeps its hook but rewrites its other phrases every time you bake.

  • Each song has its own key, groove and instruments: lazy lo-fi, a bouncy stroll, bossa, swing, late-night disco and a festival finale.
  • Big tap lanes for phones and a layout that fits portrait and landscape phones.

How to play

  1. Press Play. The first bar counts you in with four clicks; then ingredient notes fall toward the four bowls at the bottom.
  2. Tap a lane (or press its key) when a note covers its bowl. Each hit plays that note of the song's melody; higher notes are further right.
  3. Long notes trail a ribbon: press when the note arrives and keep holding until the ribbon ends for a stir bonus.
  4. From the fourth recipe, two notes joined by a gold bar are a chord: tap both lanes together.
  5. Hits are judged Perfect, Great or Good, with an early or late hint. Every ten notes in a row raise the score multiplier, up to x4.
  6. Misses, notes let go too early and taps on empty lanes drain the kitchen meter at the top; hits refill it. If it empties, the song stops and you can try again.
  7. Finish a song for one star; 70% accuracy on Easy (75% on Normal) earns two, and 90% (92%) earns three. Stars open the next recipes.
  8. If notes feel early or late, open Timing from the title screen and tap along to the clicks to set your offset.

Controls

  • Touch: tap anywhere in a lane, and hold for long notes. Use two fingers for chords.
  • Mouse: click in a lane, and hold the button for long notes.
  • Keyboard: D, F, J and K play the four lanes (1, 2, 3, 4 and Q, W, E, R work too). Hold a key for long notes. Escape pauses the song.
  • The menu button beside the recipe name pauses the song, restarts it or opens the recipe list; resuming counts you back in.
  • Shared toolbar: pause, restart, sound, help and fullscreen.

Tips worth knowing

  • Listen as much as you look: notes land on the drum beat, and the melody you play tells you whether a hit was on time.
  • Watch the early or late hint under Great and Good. If it always says the same thing, set a timing offset.
  • Lanes follow the tune. When the melody climbs, the notes step to the right; a repeated note stays in its lane.
  • Keep a finger resting on each side for the quick runs in the later recipes.
  • Easy is a real way to play: the band fills in the melody, and Easy stars count toward opening new recipes.

Accessibility

  • Notes are always visible on screen, with a four-beat count-in, beat lines on the lanes and a pulse on the bowls, so the game can be played with the sound off.
  • Easy mode keeps only the notes on the beat, widens the timing windows and drains the kitchen meter more slowly.
  • A timing offset (measured by tapping along, or set by hand) adjusts both where notes are drawn and how they are judged.
  • Lane colors are paired with distinct ingredient pictures, and every screen outside the note lanes is plain HTML text and buttons.

Questions

How hard does Whisk & Rhythm get?

The first recipe is 84 BPM with mostly quarter notes. Each recipe is faster and busier, chords start in the fourth, and the 132 BPM finale has quick runs and many chords. Easy keeps only the notes on the beat in every song.

My taps feel late with headphones. What can I do?

Open Timing from the title screen and tap along to 16 clicks. The game measures your delay and applies it to both where notes are drawn and how they are judged. You can also set the offset by hand.

Does Whisk & Rhythm save my progress?

Yes. Stars, best scores per recipe and difficulty, your difficulty choice and your timing offset are saved in your browser on this device. A best score from the older version of the game is kept and shown as Classic best.
